Fiberglass & Composite Solutions by Process

Select reinforcement, surface materials, consumables and equipment around your manufacturing process.

Star New Material brings together fiberglass and composite material options for open molding, pultrusion, filament winding, marine fabrication and construction applications. Use the specifications below to start a technical inquiry, then confirm a grade against your resin, process and finished-part requirements.

Request a Material Recommendation

Choose a reinforcement format for your inquiry

Start with your production process and laminate design. These formats serve different roles; matching only tex or area weight does not establish equivalence.

Material familyWhen to discuss itWhat to confirm
Direct rovingContinuous reinforcement inquiries for winding or pultrusionFiber type, tex, sizing, resin system and equipment
Spray-up rovingChopper-gun spray-up applicationsTex, chopping equipment, resin and required handling behavior
Chopped strand matMat layers in hand lay-up and other suitable processesArea weight, binder type, roll width and resin compatibility
Woven rovingWoven reinforcement in a defined laminateArea weight, weave, width and laminate construction
Multiaxial fabricsReinforcement with specified fiber directionsOrientation, layer weights, stitching and resin system
Surface veilA specified surface-layer requirementGlass or polyester fiber, area weight, finish and resin compatibility

Already using a material? Send its current grade and technical data sheet, identify the properties that must remain equivalent, and ask for a comparison before approving a replacement.

Request a grade comparison, technical data or evaluation sample

How to read the specifications: values are options listed in the sample catalogue, not a stock commitment or a guarantee for every grade. UP means unsaturated polyester, VE vinyl ester, EP epoxy and PU polyurethane. Confirm grade-specific sizing and resin compatibility with the proposed technical data sheet.

Open-molding materials

For hand lay-up and spray-up, define the resin system, reinforcement construction, area weight and application equipment together. Surface and core materials should be selected as part of the laminate system.

Material / formatListed specificationSelection point

See the complete open-molding process and material guide. The sample also includes choppers, air mixers, rollers, brushes, gelcoat spraying and spray-up equipment; identify the required tool and material system in your inquiry.

Pultrusion materials and equipment

Build the material inquiry around the profile geometry, continuous reinforcement, transverse reinforcement, surface finish and resin system. The sample includes glass and basalt roving, stitched and continuous mats, surface veils, pultrusion machinery, profile molds and cutting equipment.

Material / formatListed specificationSelection point

Stitch mat250, 300, 450, 600 and 900 g/m²Define transverse reinforcement needs
Continuous filament mat225, 300 and 450 g/m²Confirm width and handling requirements
Fiberglass surface veil25, 30, 40 and 50 g/m²Confirm resin compatibility and finish
Polyester / color veilPolyester: 20–50 g/m² listed options; color veil: 30, 40, 50 g/m²Specify color, fiber type and surface requirements

Associated categories include UP, VE, EP and PU resin systems, pigments, mold-release agents, aluminum hydroxide, calcium carbonate and talc. Finished-product examples in the sample include FRP profiles, grating and bars. Confirm material and equipment details for the proposed profile rather than relying on a general catalogue listing.

Filament-winding reinforcements and process materials

The sample combines direct roving with mats, woven and unidirectional reinforcement, surface veils, nets, meshes and films. Specify the winding equipment, resin, layer construction, product dimensions and required finish when requesting a proposal.

Marine composite materials

For marine fabrication, discuss reinforcement, core and process consumables as one system. The sample includes fiberglass and carbon reinforcement, aramid woven fabrics, combination mats, RTM mats, synthetic cores, PVC foam and PP honeycomb.

Ask for applicable technical data and any required project or classification documentation. A catalogue application listing does not establish marine certification for a particular material or finished component.

Composite materials for construction

Distinguish alkali-resistant (AR) glass products from general composite reinforcements when preparing a construction inquiry. The sample also covers self-adhesive tapes, stone-reinforcement meshes, polymer fibers, glass wool and polyurethane equipment.

Questions buyers should resolve before ordering

Can I obtain a price without a complete specification?

Send what you know: application, process, current material, estimated quantity and destination. Identify which details need clarification. A quotation should state the proposed grade and specification so that comparisons are meaningful.

What technical documents should I request?

Ask for the technical data sheet applicable to the proposed grade, relevant test documentation and safety data where required. If a batch certificate, independent test or project-specific approval is needed, include that requirement in your inquiry and confirm availability before ordering.

How should I evaluate an alternative grade?

Agree on the critical specifications and acceptance criteria first. Confirm sample availability and evaluate compatibility, handling and finished-part results in your actual production process. A similar name or catalogue weight alone does not establish equivalence.

What affects minimum order, lead time and delivered cost?

Grade, dimensions, quantity, packaging, production arrangements and destination can affect the proposal. Ask for the minimum order, sample costs, lead time, delivery basis and named location, freight arrangements, payment terms and quotation validity. Confirm which charges are included.

What if I need a material not shown in the product catalogue?

Describe the required material and application, and attach a reference specification if available. We can discuss sourcing requirements; suitability, documentation and supply arrangements must be confirmed for the proposed material.

Prepare Your RFQ or Request Technical Data

Prepare an effective material inquiry

  1. Identify the process and end use. Describe your part, profile, panel or construction application.
  2. Specify the reinforcement. Include fiber type, tex or area weight, orientation, width and required tolerances.
  3. Define the complete system. Provide the resin, surface, core and process-consumable requirements relevant to the project.
  4. Share evaluation criteria. Attach current technical data, reference grades and the performance or acceptance standards that must be met.
  5. Plan supply. Include estimated quantity, packaging, destination and required delivery date.

Request confirmation of the selected grade, technical data, evaluation availability, minimum order and delivery terms before placing an order.
